Tanner Tecco stepping up to Kenyon Midgets
By Ken de la Bastide
For the past decade Tanner Tecco has been competing on the road courses in kart racing and was ready to expand his involvement in racing. Tanner, 18, said a racer they followed in Ohio talked about how great the Kenyon Midget Series is.
“It will teach throttle control and how to handle a bigger car,” he said. “We were considering the Kenyon Series and decided to make the jump.”
Tanner started racing at the age of 7 and his younger sister, Taylor, got involved in kart racing at the same time.
“We raced one year together,” he said. “It was great because of the feed back we shared. “It made us both of us better and expanded our background and skills,” Tanner said.
When the Kenyon Midget Series competes at the dirt tracks it will be the first time that Tanner will not be racing on pavement. “I'm excited about racing on the dirt,” he said. “It will be something different, I want to push myself.”
Tanner has watched video of Kenyon races at Anderson Speedway and Circle City Raceway. “I'm definitely looking forward to Anderson,” he said. “It looks high speed and fun.”
Tanner has sponsorship from Chuck's Custom Truck & Trailer in Medina and the Allbright Security Center.
His car will be sporting the number 8. “I've always had that number,” he explained. “I was a fan of Dale Earnhardt Jr. and my dad was a Jeff Gordon fan.”
