Taylor Tecco ready to do some dirt racing

By Ken de la Bastide

For most of her young life Taylor Tecco has been racing karts and is ready for the new challenge of competing in a Kenyon Midget. Taylor, 15, is a freshman at Buckeye High School in Ohio and as could be expected followed her older brother, Tanner, into racing.

“Tanner started and I wanted to do it,” she said of kart racing with the Star Series.

She is a former champion in the karts and when her older brother wanted to go up the next step on the racing ladder Taylor followed.

“I'm excited about it,” she said. “When Tanner wanted to get into a bigger car, it just made sense for me to also.”

With a background on paved tracks, Taylor said she always wanted to try racing on dirt. “I'm ready to try something new,” she said. “I want to see where my career leads in the future.”

The family has a racing background with father Mike having raced Micro-Sprints and uncles that have raced karts. Taylor has not tested a Kenyon Midget and the family went to Florida for spring break when the second test session was scheduled at Anderson Speedway. Her first time in a Kenyon Midget will be the night before the season opening race at the quarter-mile Indiana oval in April.
