Tire Updates

We know everyone is anxiously waiting for new tires. I appreciate your patience as we work with Hoosier to get everything in place. Tires should be in stock and available to purchase from BHR by March 25. As with most things these days, tire costs have increased since last season. But Hoosier is doing a great job of supporting us, and making sure we have tires available to support the Kenyon Midget Series. In order to help minimize the cost impact to our racers, we will be instituting an updated tire rule. The tires used in Qualifying, will also be required to be used for the Heat Race and Feature. Details can be found in this Technical Bulletin: USSA-TB2022-1

There has also been some consolidation of tires within the Hoosier catalog. What does this mean for us? For pavement, last year we used the 700 or the D2X front tires. The D2X has been discontinued. Our standard pavement front tire going forward will be the 700. If you still have D2X tires left over from last year, you can still use them. For dirt tires, they have also discontinued the USAC spec rear tires that we used last year. BHR has been able to buy some LR USAC spec tires, and will have those available for our racers at last year’s price. Going forward, our standard rear tire compound will be the D12. For 2022, you can use the USAC spec compound, or the D12 compound rear tires. Our rulebook has been updated to list the specific tires that are legal for use in the Kenyon Midget Series. Check the latest RULEBOOK for specifics. Series legal dirt and pavement tires will be available for purchase from BHR.
