When it comes to racing at Anderson Speedway all the competitors know that Dameron Taylor is the driver to beat. Taylor, 27, was the Kenyon Midget Series rookie of the year in 2012 and won back to back championships in 2016 and 2017. The Indianapolis resident is the only driver to win two titles with the series. Taylor has recorded 24 wins with the series and 17 top five finishes during his career. Last year Taylor won the final race of the season at Anderson, his first victory in two years.

His father, Tim, was a modified champion and raced several years with the American Speed Association.

Taylor made his first start in 2021 in the Payless Little 500 at Anderson Speedway recording a 24th place finish after starting 29th.

“I’m 90% sure I will run the whole Kenyon Midget schedule,” he said. “We just bought a Beast chassis for a sprint car,” Taylor explained. “We hope to have the sprint car ready for the first race in March. Depending on the progress with the sprint car will determine how much midget racing we do.”

Taylor stopped running the dirt tracks on the schedule in 2018. He expects more than 15 competitors at the first Kenyon Midget Series races this year. “I’m really excited about the new owner and sponsorships,” Taylor said. “It’s bringing the attention back to the series and it’s ready to thrive.”

He started racing Hornets at the Indianapolis Speedrome and immediately went to the Kenyon Midget Series in 2014. Taylor is married and the father of three girls. He operates his own mechanic’s service business in Indianapolis
