Macenko sweeps Speedrome event

INDIANAPOLIS – In a rare start with the Kenyon Midget Series Jackson Macenko swept the events at the Indianapolis Speedrome. Macenko, the leading rookie with the 500 Sprint Car Tour, took advantage of a lull in the schedule to compete at one of his favorite tracks.
The Ohio driver captured the K&K Marketing Fast Qualifier award and started fourth in the feature following the inversion. Redline Ace Rookie of the Year contender Cash Wyke led the first 12 laps before giving way to Dameron Taylor in lapped traffic. Macenko took the lead from Taylor six laps later and went on to record his seventh career victory in a Kenyon Midget.
There was a caution flag with two-laps remaining with both point leader Kyle Ford and Wyke losing spots when they were caught in the second groove on the restart. Taylor finished second followed by point leader Kyle Ford with the next three spots claimed by rookie of the year contenders Kyle Sheard, Wyke and Evan Hammond.
“Brad Hayes Racing gave me a great car all evening long and I took full advantage of that,” Macenko said. “It's always fun to return to the midget series.”
Taylor's second place finish keeps him in the championship chase behind Ford with only the final race of the season at Anderson Speedway remaining next Saturday.
The Redline Ace Rookie of the Year battle will also be decided at Anderson with Wyke thus far holding off Hammond and a fast closing Sheard.
Macenko won the first KRJ Race Products heat race over Ford and Sheard.
Taylor captured the second KRJ Race Products heat race followed by Wyke and Hammond.
