Kenyon Midget drivers battle for the championship

The Day Transportation Mel Kenyon Midget Series driving championship comes down to Saturday night at Anderson Speedway. When Ayrton Houk, Jack Macenko and Colin Grissom take to the high banks to qualify, run the qualifying races and the 30-lap feature it will be to determine the 2021 Series Championship.

Houk has held the reins on the championship points race all season long. Late season victories by Macenko and Grissom have tightened up the margin putting Macenko and Grisson is shouting distance of Houk. Macenko won at Circle City Raceway on August 28, while Grissom visited victory lane at the Indianapolis Speedrome September 26 and last Saturday night at US 24 Speedway.

Houk leads Macenko by 84 points with Grissom closing within two markers of Macenko.

Houk and Grissom have each scored at Anderson Speedway. Grissom has four career victories while Houk has visited Anderson’s victory Lane once. Macenko has yet to win at Anderson but has 10 top five finishes to his credit.

In the USSA point system there is a 45-point difference between 1st and 10th in the feature and a 20-point difference between 1st and 5th in the qualifying races. A driver earns 5 points for leading a lap and 5 points for leading the most laps. If the driver goes wire to wire, he can grab a ten-point advantage on his competitors. Grissom has earned the most championship points in the last two races by winning and leading the most laps in both events.
