During the second half of the Kenyon Midget Series season, Kyle Ford competed among the front runners no matter what the track surface. Ford closed out the year with five top-five finishes en route to claiming Rookie of the Year honors. Over the course of the last three races, Ford finished second at Anderson and Mt Lawn speedways.

“The challenge during the year was that the competition was so good,” Ford said. “Dameron (Taylor) and Jack (Macenko) were so strong, I just wanted to be one of the cars upfront.”

Ford said over the course of the season he gained confidence in the race car. “We were working on the set-up,” Ford said. “Trying to get everything to work so I knew what I had underneath me.”

He particularly liked the season ending race on the dirt oval at U.S. 24 Speedway. “It was a lot of fun,” Ford said. “We were able to run the top.”

He opened the season with a pair of eighth place finishes at Anderson and Montpelier speedways. “The first two races, I was just trying to get comfortable in the car, it was a big learning curve.”

Ford took home a K&K Marketing Fast Qualifier award at Anderson and earned Advanced Racing Suspensions Hard Charger honors at Mt. Lawn.

Ford said the plan for 2023 is to run the full Kenyon Midget schedule. “I know I can do better next season,” he said. “The goal is to win the championship next season.”
