In only his eighth start in a Kenyon Midget, Jalen Cox added his name to a list of race winners with USSA. A year ago Kyle Ford, Colton Bettis and Tanner Tecco were first-time winners with USSA.

Cox dominated the series first visit to Circle City Speedway earlier this year by capturing his first K&K Marketing qualifying award and initial KRJ Race Products heat win.

“I didn't do anything special,” he said of that first win. “I would like to win there a second time. Dirt tracks are my thing,” Cox said.

A year ago Cox finished ninth and tenth at Paragon and an 11th at Circle City. Cox is planning to run all three races on dirt ovals and at the Indianapolis Speedrome and Anderson Speedway during the remainder of the year.

“We'll start with the same set-up,” he said of returning to Circle City. “The car was fast. In the feature the track got slippery, so we tightened it up.”

He said in the 2023 visits to Circle City the track was really rough and it was a lot smoother earlier this year. “It was completely different,” Cox said.

Cox said he had some success at the Indianapolis Speedrome in 2023 finishing fourth in one of the two Kenyon Midget Series visits.

“Building confidence is everything in racing,” he said. “I would like to run six or seven races. We've always had top five speed in the times we raced with the series.”

Cox said last year he tested at the Speedrome. “It helped to turn some laps,” he commented. “The car was fast and I'm looking forward to going back.”

Cox said the quarter-mile Anderson Speedway is a unique challenge because of how fast the oval is. “The Anderson race in 2022 was my first in a Kenyon Midget,” he explained. “I had to build up some confidence in the midget. I'm hoping to be more competitive there.”
