Anderson races could determine champion
By Ken de la Bastide
Although Jack Macenko currently holds a comfortable lead for the Kenyon Midget Series championship, his closest pursuer Dameron Taylor can't be ruled out. Of the four races remaining this year, two will take place at the quarter-mile high-banked Anderson Speedway. Three of the four remaining races are at pavement tracks with the season ending race at U.S. 24 Speedway the only remaining event on dirt.
Macenko leads Taylor by 168 markers and the battle for rookie of the year honors has Dave Osborn with a one-point lead over Kyle Ford.
Since 2017 the Kenyon Midget Series has contested 31 races on the Anderson Speedway oval. Taylor has won at the track a total of 10 times while Macenko is coming off his first career win at Anderson Speedway. Taylor won five times at Anderson Speedway in 2018, won twice in 2021 and has one win this year. The only year the Indianapolis driver didn't win at Anderson Speedway was in 2020.
This year racing at Anderson has produced four different winners with Colin Grissom winning the Don and Mel Kenyon Classic and rookie contender Thomas Schrage scoring a victory earlier this year.
Ford finished third the last time the series was at Anderson Speedway and has recorded a fifth and sixth place showing.
Osborn's best finish at Anderson is a sixth place run and he finished tenth and eighth in the two most recent events.
